Rash's Poetry House

The Desk

Daddy's desk sat in his office
Thirty years or more
Only he
Only he caring
Worn spots marking life
A glow
Well used
Well cared
Showing love, life

At marriage it passed to us
Five years or less
Junk to you
Cut and damage
Valued only for utility
Dull and pale
Ill used
Ill cared
Showing scars, life

It was finally mine alone
Ten years or more
Thinking often to restore
Finally deciding to let
Scars show
Glowing with new care
Remember love,
Showing all, life.

Now it lives with others
Memory of a Father
And Grandfather
Gaining new life
Passed to new
Generations
Remembrance of
Living cycles.
