Midwest Summers

Cloud lies close against the belly
of the land
Mists creep across mounds
and sink into crevices
only to rise once more
along the receptor
of hot moisture
along that river
which divides the mother
east from west.
Fogs lie close to the land in the MidWest
He sinks close
to caress the contours
lies upon the navel
and seeps into caverns
leaving his seed
to germinate
in the moistures
he draws forth.
