Sunday at the Mall

I came early
I had no idea
when they opened
I watched them
pace before the locked
doors
that separate
them
from the goods
that will separate
them
from their cash

They are so eager
pacing faster now
5 more minutes

The man in the red jacket
rattles the door
Ladies file into the restroom
the only open door
the cafe opens early

They pace faster
Maybe Reebock
or SAS
Or Big Dogs
will also open
early

The man in the red jacket
rattles the door
It's still locked
Maybe?
Maybe?
One minute to go

Shop!
